The Illinois Realtors Relief Foundation has donated $30,000 to help residents of Coles and Effingham counties who were impacted by the tornadoes that damaged their communities on June 17.
Roughly 1,000 homes endured storm damage, and some are beyond repair and will need to be demolished or rebuilt. Illinois has experienced nearly 200 tornadoes year-to-date, and the foundation’s new donation follows the $55,000 it provided in April to other Illinois counties impacted by the extreme weather.
“Our hearts go out to all who have been affected by this year’s severe weather and faced the daunting task of rebuilding their lives after these devastating storms,” said Illinois Realtors CEO Jeff Baker. “The Illinois Realtors Relief Foundation was built for moments like this so that we could step up, support our neighbors and provide immediate, meaningful assistance when they need it most. We are trying to ensure our neighbors don’t have to face the recovery process alone.”
