A realtor in Las Vegas was shot and killed by a police officer shot after for help after an intruder broke into his home.
According to combined media reports, Brandon Durham was in his home with his 15-year-old daughter in the early hours of Nov. 12 when he called the police to report a home invasion. At 12:40 a.m., officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department were in the house when Officer Alexander Bookman saw Durham and the intruder, Alejandra Boudreaux, struggling over a knife. Boudreaux has been in a relationship with Durham, according to the police report.
Bookman shouted, “Drop the knife! Drop the knife!” and fired one shot that hit Durham and sent him and Boudreaux to the ground. Durham was on the floor when Bookman opened fire at him five more times. After he was fatally shot, Boudreaux told the officer he shot the wrong person, the police report said.
Boudreaux was taken into custody and while Durham was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident marks eighth fatal police shooting in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction this year. Bookman was placed on administrative leave and authorities are considering whether he will be criminally charged for killing Durham.
Boudreaux was charged with one count of performing an act in willful or wanton disregard of safety resulting in death, one count of home invasion with a deadly weapon, one count of assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence, as well as one count of child abuse, neglect or endangerment.
Durham was a realtor with Signature Real Estate Group in Henderson, Nevada, and was also an area sales manager with Dwellness Home Warranty.

Oh my gosh, this is awful. How tragic.
Really, after he was down he fired 5 shots into someone on the ground who may have had a knife? Rediculous.
Really, after he was down he fired 5 shots into someone on the ground who may have had a knife? Cop should be held liable for murder.
You got that right. I was beginning the think being a realtor was dangerous, but actually it being around police that is dangerous (or any armed gang).
Question? Was the REALTOR black and the cop white? Just askin’ for a friend.
This is america at its best! I’m sure they would have us to believe the officer was in fear if his life and all that bullshit. But the bottom line, we have killers for officers. And this is coming from a military Veteran. Another coincidence, I guess, the victims just so happen to always be black. And the officers are always white….
This headline should say “Homeowner” not Realtor as the fact he was a Realtor had NOTHING to do with his death. It makes it look like the Realtor profession is even more dangerous than it is.
My thought exactly. Why this headline?? Not relevant in any way.
“Realtor is less sympathetic than Homeowner”…after all “She” deserves the benefit of the doubt.
What’s being a realtor have to do anything and it sounds like a relationship gone bad
Wonder who they would have shot if the Realtor had been white? (and I’m white)
We already know the answer to that. SMH….That cop should be charged with murder.
Both subjects were the same race. I don’t agree with 5 shots being fired after he’s on the ground but it was a male & female & the assumption was most likely made that the male was the aggressor.
How senseless and tragic, and his child was there. It seems like things are only getting worse.
This is absolutely crazy unacceptable. Everybody should stand up against this. This police officer should be convicted of murder and never let out.
spat turned violent

THIS CPO NEEDS TO BE LOCKED UP. FAIR AND SQUARE!!!!
I Just do not understand the need for excessive force. You shoot once, so to speak, suspect is on the ground with a KNIFE. WHY DO YOU SHOOT AGAIN AND 5 TIMES???
WHAT IS WRONG WITH OUR COMMON SENSE AND HUMANITY AWARENESS?
WHAT A WASTED LIFE. HOW HORRIBLE FOR HIS DAUGHTER TO WITNESS THIS KIND OF NEGLIGENCE FROM A COP WHO SHOULD KNOW BETTER.
OUR COPS DEFINITELY NEED MORE TRAINING
Why isnt the headline stating it was the Homeowner that was fatally shot by police. The cop needs to be charged for murder. Absolutely no excuse to shoot this man. Poor child will be without a father. Disgusting!
That’s insane! That officer was out of control.
After the Summer of riots, destruction, looting, and targeting police officers, plus the Defund the Police movement a few years ago, a huge number of seasoned police officers retired or resigned all over the country. Many cities cannot hire enough officers. So hiring standards have been lowered and we have many young and inexperienced officers. All that did nothing but make things worse for everyone. Going forward, hopefully we will only allow peaceful and lawful protests.
Tragic….Police officers need more training! We need to invest more in their training so that they know how to react when they encounter these situations.
Tragic.
Where was this officer’s partner?
The headline is wrong too, but Phill wants to make headlines appeal to HIS audience, even if misleading.
“Homeowner” would be more accurate, though “Realtor” is less inflamatory than “Black Homeowner” would have been.
5 Shots when he was down?? Are you kidding? I’m not anti-police by any means, but this? Who’s the criminal now?? This is tragic for his family.
Tragic, I don’t think more training is the answer I think more screening of who we allow to be police officers is an answer not just anyone who wants to be a police officer should be a police officer. Let just be real there is racism in this country, I don’t know the color of the officer but, we all know the color of the victim and we can guess what happened, and it’s sad because we know if would have ended differently if the victim were white. If you have fear of people of color you should stay away from law enforcement as a profession.
The color of his skin should not justify shooting him five times when he was already down! That’s a crime and that officer should be charge accordingly. His daughter is left with this senseless tragedy and no father for the rest of her life.
According to the linked story from LB above that gave more details, Alejandra changed her name from Robert a long time ago and has a history of violence. The headline could’ve used words like Homeowner and Trans but didn’t.
In a rush to get the story out we never get all the facts and it is always about what the story writer wants to tell to grab the readers attention. First, this writer writes for Realtors so of course it is going to be about the fact it is a Realtor. Second, they are never going to tell you that the officer shot the man over the woman expecting the man to be the aggressor as in most cases this is the case, but the 911 caller should of identified this. Third, this was a domestic case, not a home invasion really so here is the attention grab for you all, the officer should have known it was domestic and very volatile situation but the writer doesn’t want you to know that so you will be very angry at the officer. Lastly, you never know what the person on the ground is doing when he is shot is doing that made him want to shot him 5 more times. Did he have the knife and was trying to stab the woman, was he trying to get back up and go after the police officer. Was he just shot in the leg, shoulder or something that wasn’t really stopping him and he was being aggressive now as he didn’t know what was going on. None of this is in the article because they want outrage in the public. They put all officers on administrative leave after a shooting like this so it automatically makes them appear guilty. I am not saying he wasn’t at all. I am just saying be careful what you read in the media as everything is meant to persuade you and lately it has not been reporting but really been opinion pieces. They never later come out with the whole story as that would be reporting the news.
