A New Jersey real estate agent pleaded guilty for participating in riot that overtook the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

The Asbury Park Press reported 28-year-old Robert Coppotelli admitted to one count of disorderly and disruptive conduct at the Capitol and one count of parading, demonstrating or picketing at the site. Two other misdemeanors that were originally brought against him – for knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority and for a disorderly persons offense – were dropped as part of a plea deal.

Coppotelli is expected to be sentenced at the end of the year, when he faces a maximum term of one year in prison and up to $10,000 in fines. He also faces a $500 fine in damage costs to the Capitol.

Although Coppotelli wore a surgical mask and a hat to obscure his face during the riot, he was identified from video recordings at the Capitol because he was wearing a jacket that bore the name of Coppotelli Heavy Equipment Sales & Services Inc. The jacket also included the 732 area code for his business’ telephone number.
