A New Jersey real estate agent pleaded guilty for participating in riot that overtook the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
The Asbury Park Press reported 28-year-old Robert Coppotelli admitted to one count of disorderly and disruptive conduct at the Capitol and one count of parading, demonstrating or picketing at the site. Two other misdemeanors that were originally brought against him – for knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority and for a disorderly persons offense – were dropped as part of a plea deal.
Coppotelli is expected to be sentenced at the end of the year, when he faces a maximum term of one year in prison and up to $10,000 in fines. He also faces a $500 fine in damage costs to the Capitol.
Although Coppotelli wore a surgical mask and a hat to obscure his face during the riot, he was identified from video recordings at the Capitol because he was wearing a jacket that bore the name of Coppotelli Heavy Equipment Sales & Services Inc. The jacket also included the 732 area code for his business’ telephone number.
Coppotelli is a real estate agent at Diane Turton Realtors in Ocean County, New Jersey.

Good! Throw away the key. No sympathy for fascists.
I’m not clear on the miscarriage of justice. Why were these people arrested and charged when those who destroyed Minnesota and caused murder and mayhem not charged?
Peaceful protesters were encouraged by authorities to enter the capitol- its proven the 3 letter agencies had CHS in the crowd, threw flash bombs to cause disruption and then opened the doors and ushered the people into the Capitol. The fascists are the authorities who deplatformed Trump and manipulated social media to cover up their crimes. Why has the Pipe bomber not been arrested when he is on camera and they have his cellphone info?
What’s sad is if the communists take over there will be no more property rights or real estate at all. You’d better get on the right side of the issue before that happens.
Whataboutism is for children. Don’t mention another issue to justify this guy breaking the law. Every American must follow the law and respect the institutions of government. He was wrong and is being punished appropriately. The other nonsense you spoke about has nothing to do with this!
David, equal application of the law is essential in a civil society.
It affords us all a peaceful coexistence even when we disagree.
A lack of such leads to extreme angst which God forbid, leads to actions we will all find unsettling.
Truth…
So very true Jaimie! I’m very concerned about his sentence, when do 2 misdemeanors equal 1 year in jail and $10,000 + $500? We have rampant crime and these criminals get caught and then are released within hours with $0.00 bond and ticket to appear before a judge and never show up and commit crimes again!
If the Dems win, we will have nothing and like it🤬🤬🤬🤬
Well said Jamie!
Exactly….
I agree, Not sure what actual damage he caused, if any. Wonder if legal fees finally got the best of him.
Jamie, you are so mixed up. First thing is, one jurisdiction has nothing to do with another. Next, they were not peaceful. The media that you have watched (FOX, etc) only showed people walking into the Capital. I watched it on FOX and also on MSNBC, CNN and one of the other “conservative networks. Fox and the other conconservative networks refused to show the realily horrible side of the insurrection. Did you see the officer’s head getting caught up between the doors? Did you hear about the feces on desks? Did you not see the noose and hear about hanging Mike Pense? These were not “Peaceful Protesters” as you have been duped to call them. Did you not here of officer lossing fingers? Officers dying and some later dying by suicide following this “Peaceful Protest”. You need to look up the word “Facist”. I would not be surprised if you saw trump’s photo. trump did not call off the people at the capital, he did nothing to try to stop it for hours. I hope that someone you love never gets caught up in a “Peaceful Protest like this. trump should have been immediately charged with TREASON because he did nothing to stop the VIOLENT protest.
I hope his license was returned to the state by his broker.
Did what he did pertain to real estate? Looks like he had a 2nd business.
Martin, this does not seem to matter to people. If they have an inkling that someone supported Trump, nothing matters but to punish and intimidate.
This is so crazy. If these nuts had been trump suporters, you all would have declared treason. And I would have agreed.
Hmmmm
Thought there would be a lot more comments about this.
Are readers afraid to comment in either direction?? Probably.
Something wrong with that right there. What has happened to this beautiful, incredible, yearned for, country. 😔

“One count of parading, demonstrating or picketing at the site.” This is against the law? The right to assemble and peacefully protest? Parading up and down with a sign, to the best of my knowledge, is not against the law. It’s ironic that they can identify this person who probably didn’t do much (without knowing all the details, I am assuming he was just present but wasn’t breaking and entering or damaging property) but they can’t (won’t) identify any of the people who rioted during the summer of 2020 and caused thousands of dollars in damage to small retail shops.
I agree, 1st plea I’ve heard in a long time. Not sure what actual damage he caused, if any. Wonder if legal fees finally got the best of him.
🎯🎯🎯
Did you not see them breaking windows and doors. That does not seem peaceful to me. Congress was assemble to do the “people’s ” work. Even if the protestors did not like the results they had no right to break in and threaten to kill members of congress.
These are political actions reminiscent of a third world country. We have people destroying public property, taking over buildings for days and obstructing the people and freedom of movement but nothing happens even when arrested. These people were wrong but not in the same sense. If it was an insurrection it ended early enough for the people to get the early bird specials at the restaurants and get home before dark. This is being done to stifle the dissent they seem to approve of when the pro Palestinians march, or when they burn down cities
🎯🎯🎯
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that these people are not punished for breaking the law. These people are being punished in order for others to be frightened and submit to the totalitarian government that the left is trying to establish in this country. At the same time the communists and anarchists who take over the universities and break and burn store fronts, vandalize private property as well as public property are being rewarded. Everybody can see that.
So true Leo!
Absolutely!
I agree with Leo on this one! If people don’t open their eyes our Country will be ruined!
Total BS what our government did to those on J6. Double standards galore. The punishment exceeds the crime. City blocks set on fire, businesses & property destroyed, statues vandalized or ripped down, all in the name of racial equality funded & organized by leftist NGOs, yet no arrests. We are at war w our government or a faction thereof. The J6 arrests are brownshirt tactics (thx pelosi & schumer) to terrorize citizens using fear so you sheep won’t make a peep when their boot is firmly pressed on your neck. Go mask up for the nxt “virus”, go line up to get your “vaccine”, stay home & send in your ballots because the TV told you to & you’re too fearful & apathetic to leave your house. It is WRONG they arrested this man, it is WRONG they are still hunting down Americans who attended J6 to exercise their Constitutional rights to protest an election that was blatantly stolen. Comments from most on here make me sick how low info, unaware, asleep they are to the lawlessness & chaos created by this current administration!
You hit the nail on the head, couldn’t have said it better Jay🎯
Yep I agree totally with Jay! Preach! I love it!!!
As Realtors we should be waking up to see that the memberships to NAR and CAR are no longer serving Realtors or private property ownership rights. The so called pandemic took away the rights of a select group of role (landlords) from enforcing. Their rights to collect rent on their private properties. In CA the lunacy continues. Under the guise of a housing crisis our government has obliterated zoning in single family residential neighborhoods. They are pushing out the mom and pos from doing business by creating restrictions that should not exist. Rentals are for humans. If you are in cA. Notice the subtle differences. CAR forms now have signature lines for housing provider. I’m not a housing provider. I’m a landlord. M and if you rent from me. You are a tenant. If you listen carefully the goal is for us to have nothing and be happy. If you are in denial or you aren’t listening. We’ll say goodbye to your freedom. You just slept away into government control.
This man is a criminal who just happen to be a realtor, and who just happen to work for the family business and who was so dumb he wore his company’s jacket while committing a crime.
I was in Washington on January 6th. I didn’t go onto the Capitol ground or into the building. If I hadn’t seen the Capitol building previously I might have entered. It never occurred to me that the Capitol and the grounds are off limits to American citizens, even if they happen to be counting votes. I live in the area and remember seeing hundreds of people throwing frisbees, play baseball or football, sunbathing or just walking their dogs on the grounds. When I visited decades ago I just walked in and had the building to myself on a weekday. There were two guards at the entrance but no metal detectors, etc.
There were no angry crowds on January 6. Some carried signs but, at 3:30 PM I left for my home in Virginia, mainly because there was no excitement at all. As I left I saw an ambulance rushing there, apparently for Ashley Babbit who had just been shot. When I got home I was astonished to hear news of a violent insurrection. There was nothing like that. YouTube had a collection of some 1,000s of videos submitted by cell phone carrying visitors to the Capitol. They took that down in a few hours. There was no violence to be seen on the hundreds of videos I managed to looked at. Other sites picked up these videos and an objective person would, at least, look at these to see if there was anything like an insurrection, or even a riot.
News outlets wanted to put forth a fake version of events. Those accused, and often convicted, of parading and other horrifying misdemeanors were unjustly prosecuted. Unless one has many millions in the bank there is no choice but to plead to some crime.
I think Trump will pardon every one of those convicted.
