Tennessee teenagers who are in their senior year of high school are now eligible to obtain real estate licenses in their state for free.
According to WMC/Gray News, the Tennessee Real Estate Commission has created a scholarship program in partnership with Kaplan Real Estate Education that waives the fees attached to the base education required for the pre-licensing Tennessee exam. The program covers the Tennessee 60-hour Real Estate Principles online course (which usually costs $289), the Tennessee 30-hour New Affiliates online course (which usually costs $149) and the national and Tennessee Real Estate Exam preps (which usually range from $429 to $829).
Students will have six to 12 months to complete their courses from their date of enrollment. The program is available to the state’s graduating seniors.
“The Tennessee High School Senior Real Estate Licensing Program is an extension of our Department’s mission to empower professionals by giving high school students a way to begin a potentially high-earning career in real estate upon their graduation,” said Carter Lawrence, commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance. “I am excited to support this program as it offers specialized education and training while giving Tennessee’s next generation a way to start exploring their career opportunities, gain more experience, and potentially build their savings.”
