Real estate investor and social media personality Grant Cardone has filed a $100 million defamation lawsuit against former T-Mobile CEO John Legere for calling him a “con man” and a “bulls**t artist.”
According to a New York Post report, Cardone filed a lawsuit in Florida’s Miami-Dade County yesterday claiming his brand had suffered by “an amount believed to be no less than $100,000,000.00” because of Legere’s “false and defamatory statements” that questions Cardone’s actual wealth and financial acumen. Among the statements the lawsuit cited were remarks Legere made on the Clubhouse app last June when he referred to Cardone as “the biggest bull***t artist on the planet.”
Legere also called Cardone “a f*****g con man” during a public conversation and predicted that Cardone would soon “be found guilty of fraud.” He also questioned Cardone’s celebrity by reportedly saying, “And if you go to the world, go to the world of CNBC, go to CNN, go to the world, ask about Grant Cardone. He doesn’t exist.”
The lawsuit insisted that some witnesses claimed Legere was allegedly drunk and “appearing jealous and envious of Cardone’s self-made status” while he was reeling off his insults. The lawsuit also claimed that the men had been friendly a decade ago before Legere turned hostile.
“Legere often became extremely defensive, erratic, and combative, seeking to harshly dismiss Cardone’s views, even resorting to inappropriate personal attacks directed at Cardone’s background, religion, height, business, practices, live events, and reputation,” the lawsuit said.
Legere did not publicly comment on the lawsuit.
