Hunter Biden’s legal problems may not be over despite receiving an unconditional pardon from his father, President Joe Biden.
According to a Fox News report, Biden is being accused of owing more than $300,000 in unpaid rent on his former Los Angeles-area residence. Shaun Maguire, a partner at venture capital firm Sequoia, wrote on X that the president’s son skipped out on a six-digit rental bill.
“So what happens to the $300k+ in back pay rent that Hunter Biden owes my family from 2019-2020? Is that pardoned now? Thanks Joe,” Maguire complained on X, adding, “Hunter was our tenant in Venice, CA. Didn’t pay rent for over a year. Tried to pay w/ art made from his own feces. Absolute s– bag,” Maguire wrote, adding in a follow-up post that the rent was $25,000 a month for the house.
Maguire claimed that Biden changed the locks on the property while he was a tenant and directed the Secret Service to prevent landlord access. Maguire responded to a question from an X user regarding whether he tried to evict Biden by claiming the Bidens are “kind of a scary family to go after.”
The presidential pardon for Biden covers federal crimes that he either committed or may have committed from Jan. 1, 2014, through Dec. 1, 2024. However, unpaid rent would not fall under that pardon and Maguire has the option to pursue Biden in a civil court lawsuit.
Maguire’s assertion is the second regarding Biden’s failure to pay rent. Earlier this year, news reports claimed his Biden owed Sweetgreen CEO and co-founder Jonathan Neman $80,000 in back rent at another $25,000-a-month house in Venice.
