Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) has declared that President Trump is planning to remove Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell from his position.

In an interview with Bloomberg Television, Warren claimed that Trump believes “all the power belongs to the king” and operates under the belief that “he can just mow through every civil servant.”

Warren is a longtime critic of Powell and opposed his reappointment in 2024 by then-President Biden. During her interview, she offered no evidence to back her claims of an upcoming Powell ouster.

Trump has previously stated that he had no plans to remove Powell prior to the end of his term in 2026. Although he said Powell and the Fed “failed to stop the problem they created with inflation” and expressed hope that the Fed would lower rates, for the most part he has not taken public aim at the central bank’s leadership since returning to the White House.

Nonetheless, Warren claimed, “Nobody is safe, not even the chairman of the Federal Reserve.”
