A 5,900-acre Texas ranch that has been owned by the same family for 145 years is being listed for $21 million.

San Angelo Live reports the Padgitt Ranch in Coleman County was once the largest fenced ranch in Texas. It was founded in the 1870s by cattleman William Day and managed by his wife, Mabel Doss Day, following his death in 1881. Mrs. Day gained national prominence in 1883 by successfully lobbying lawmakers to make fence-cutting a crime. In 1906, Mrs. Day passed the property to her daughter, Willie Mabel Day, who later married James Thomas Padgitt – his surname has been linked to the property.

The property includes pastures, seasonal creeks, active springs, 10 miles of frontage on Lake O.H. Ivie and two historic homes, including one that was built in 1871. In 1999, the property was recognized by the Texas Department of Agriculture’s Family Land Heritage program.
