Two days after the Federal Reserve opted to hold rates again, President Trump has renewed his attacks on Chairman Jerome Powell – and this time, he is calling for a leadership revolt within the central bank’s leadership team.
In a posting on Truth Social, the president wrote, “Jerome ‘Too Late’ Powell, a stubborn MORON, must substantially lower interest rates, NOW. IF HE CONTINUES TO REFUSE, THE BOARD SHOULD ASSUME CONTROL, AND DO WHAT EVERYONE KNOWS HAS TO BE DONE!”
There is no precedent for the Fed’s Board of Governors to force its chairman out of the leadership role. Powell, whose term as Fed chairman runs through May 2026, has ignored endless calls by Trump and members of the Executive Branch to resign.
Among the most aggressive and insulting critics of Powell is Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte, who complained on X this morning that “Powell is a liar who does not like our great President.”

Bill Pulte’s motives as well as Trump’s are purely self serving and not in the best interest of the nation. I agree with Powell to hold rates steady given the reckless implementation of the tariffs and the fallout of layoffs. This has created economic uncertainty. We need stability and we’re not getting it with this administration. The powers need to be separate from political influence.
I have observed the unconstitutional Federal Reserve take stances for decades that are purely based on what benefits the Democrap Party, not what benefits the U.S. Your statement reveal your ignorance about the economy and the political nature of the Fed. You clearly suffer from TDS, a mental illness. I recommend you check into your nearest mental institution. Take some classes on economics while you’re at it. Capitalism, not Communism.
Agreed. We need to see some emotional and fiscal responsibility from this administration.
Homeownership is a dream come true and my hope is for the interest rates to be lowered so the people of this great nation can afford a mortgage with an affordable payment!
While I’m glad President Trump is in office I’m not thrilled about his and Pulte’s hyperbolic negative personal attaches on Federal Reserve’s Jerome Powell. They need to be more statesman like in their public comments. They are trending towards the gutter that most Democrat leaders wallow in and that’s not helpful to anyone. The board only had 2 dissenters. That is not a board that is fighting itself. The good economic numbers, relatively steady employment and inflation at around 2.6% while good for the country were not in Trump’s favor for a large interest rate cut. I think Powell and the board should have cut a quarter point to see what affect it would have on inflation and economic activity. The tariff issues are probably over blown but all changes to a pricing system takes up to 1 year to see a trending effect. Any fifty point or more interest rate cut should be held for an economic downturn. Going forward this year and into next the Federal Reserve should be making a quarter point cut on several occasions unless the data proves otherwise.
Mark my words, the doctored data that would favor not reducing rates will continue to be produced as long as Democraps are out of power.
“Powell is a liar who does not like our great President”
I’m confused here. I thought Donald Trump was our president.
Believe me folks, history will not be kind to this huckster.
When builders can afford to buy down interest rates, because home ownership otherwise is out of reach for families where both parents are working, builders have an upper hand over homeowners.
The American Dream in the past has been homeownership.
No one seemed upset when rates were 3%, but now 7+ is good? Real estate fuels the economy. Even movement of 1/4% would help individual sellers get more homes sold. It’s time to take politics out of this.
He has a big ego that does not champion the working class.
Perhaps one owns their home and so does not care about their neighbors.
Do not use your well being at the detriment of your fellow Americans –
‘A home is a man’s home is his castle’ and every American should be able to buy a home.
Powell could have been a hero. But he does not support the administration. Actually, he does not support anyone.
All the states are being hurt. The governors need to join together and get him out.
