Former President Donald Trump made a rare acknowledgment of the challenges to homeownership affordability but offered no specific strategies to addressing the matter except to seek voter support.
In an interview on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle,” host Laura Ingraham asked Trump how he would respond to young voters who are “seeing the American Dream disappear.”
“I say very simply: vote for Trump,” he responded. “Interest rates are coming down. Energy is coming down. You’re going to be able to buy a home again. You can’t buy a home. You know, one of the things killing homebuilding is regulation. There’s so many regulations from the federal government on a home, it’s a big percentage of the cost of the home itself. Young people are going to be able to buy again. They’re going to be able to borrow again.”
When Ingraham asked Trump about President Biden’s plans for rent caps, Trump predicted, “Once you do that, you end up in a depression. We’ll end up in a depression like in 1929.”
Ingraham did not pursue follow-up questions to see more specifics on how Trump would handle housing policy if he returned to the White House. In his campaign speeches, Trump has not directly addressed housing market issues.
As for his opponents in the 2024 election, Vice President Kamala Harris, the presumptive Democratic Party nominee, has yet to offer specifics on how she would address housing issues. Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. addressed the subject last October by proposing tax code changes and an effort to prevent financial services companies from buying up single-family homes.

Totally agree Mike. Where are his policies? Where has he told us what he is going to do for our country except get revenge on everyone? He has been deemed a real estate tycoon but he stomped on everyone’s head to get his real estate holdings. He is not a businessman, he was a trust fund baby who was never told no, born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Tell us what you are going to do not just “vote for me”. Project 2025 is scary and they try to act like they know nothing about it. We need to get this country back in balance and work together not divide us more. Kindness goes a long way, in real estate and in politics.

When Trump was President, inflation was low, border was manageable, interest rates were low, gas prices were low, no wars in Ukraine and Israel. Putinand Xi were kept at bay. We were energy independent. Look at where we are today. Please vote based on common sense not on rumor. He was in office before. He has proven himself good for this country. Harris and Biden have done a lousy job. Middle class is backbone of this country. We have suffered under policies of Biden Harris. Vote common sense not rumor.

Kamala Harris is not an option for running this country. People are so easily brainwashed by the media & Facebook. Do a deep dive beyond the woke mantras & learn about the candidates. We certainly don’t need twerking giggling representatives in the next years to come. We are in wartime mode globally. Amateurs who got slid into positions are not who we need.
I think you may be confusing Project 2025 by the Heritage Foundation with Agenda 2025 which is Trumps Plan. This is what he has been talking about for years. I welcome your comments on what parts of the plan you don’t agree with.
Trump has nothing to do with project 2025. He will fix our economy. I voted Biden. Huge mistake, our country is a disaster. Our economy was much better underTrump, and he understands real estate!

You have a choice: Democrats and communism/socialism/globalism or Trump and capitalism. The Democrats want unlimited government and welfare housing in every neighborhood filled with 100 million illegals “voting” for them. The Dems are now pandering to white voters because minorities are voting Trump. Trump wants to limit government and allow as many people as possible to earn their own home. The Democrat party just tried to kill Trump after 9 years of lawfare and slander. As real estate professionals, we have the responsibility of supporting America and Americans. The Democrat party is not helping America or Americans. I live in a state being inundated with refugees from blue cities and states, escaping the Democrat hellholes. I have an obligation to help them live in a safe, red state. Grow up and vote Trump.
I have been a licensed realtor for over 25 years and I can tell you that this is the worst year I have had. Our hands are completely tied from making a living due to the current policies. Educate yourself on what these candidates have accomplished and I think you will find that this country is better off with a proven business man running it rather than a politician.
I have been alive long enough to experience several different Presidents and their policies. Voting for someone also boils down about the personality of the candidate. I know that is not what we should vote on but “likeability” is one of those things. I think both of the present candidates have pros and cons in this area. Mr. Trump has either been loved or hated by how he communicates and Mrs. Harris has also been criticized for her communication style as well. We need to get past these areas so we can look at their individual record. Look at Trump’s record since he has been President. Mrs. Harris being a Vice President also has a record. Both have information about them before they where in either position for us to assess. For me I want a President that does put our country first by putting the American citizen first. What does that mean? It means that when they swear the Oath of office to “protect and defend” that they carry that oath out when performing their duties. This statement means a lot of things but ultimately it is to keep all of us safe and that means “all of us”. When I hear things like we should be like the rest of the world, I think we are already are. We have people from all over the world that make up our civilization here in the U.S. We are a mixture of many cultures but as an American who has served in the military and one who believes in peace through strength, I know that we can all come together for the betterment of each other. Let’s just all step back from the emotions of the moment and try to be logical about our decision of who should be our next President.

Did you all forget about the COVID-19 epidemic? Do you not remember that our economy was in shambles while Trump was our President? Do you not remember that 1 million Americans died because he did not take action and denied what was coming even when it was here? Biden has brought back the economy and we are the envy of the world. But those with big money in all our markets are making big profits and refuse to reduce pricing escalated by the Covid challenge. If you want to blame anyone, try putting it on the companies making those record profits and help the administration get them lowered and not give them tax breaks. The economy Trump inherited was good from Obama’s efforts. He destroyed it with how he handled our Covid crisis so again, we had to rebuild. Know your facts.

I agree with you about the companies and their profits. Unfortunately those profits are because of their lobbying which ultimately makes the politicians responsible.
I believe that the facts speak to a virus that allowed the election to be controlled. All just to keep a man that is for the people and not owned by lobbyists out of office.
