Blue Heron Farm, the Martha’s Vineyard property that was the summer home of President Barack Obama and his family during his first term, has been listed for $39 million.
The Wall Street Journal reports the roughly 30-acre property in Chilmark, Massachusetts, includes a 7,000-square-foot white clapboard main house built in 1993, along with a New England Cape-style guesthouse, and outdoor pool, and a 150-year-old eight-stall barn. The property is owned by the family of British architect Norman Foster, who spends his summers there – a limited company tied linked to Foster and his family purchased the property in 2011 for $22.4 million.
The Obamas rented the property during the summers of 2009, 2010 and 2011 at $50,000 per week – at the time, the property was owned by William Van Devender, a Republican timber industry executive. The former First Family later purchased their own home elsewhere on Martha’s Vineyard.
