A total of 90,083 closed home sales were transacted in Texas during the third quarter, a 4.9% year-over-year increase. All but four Texas metros had more home sales in the third quarter compared with the same time last year.
According to data from Texas Realtors, the upswing in sales was matched by a 20.9% surge in active listings, which totaled 153,154 by the end of the third quarter. Texas had 5.4 months of inventory in third quarter, up from 4.7 months recorded one year earlier.
However, the median home price of $335,000 was down by 1.5% from the third quarter in 2024.
“Texas is such a great place to call home,” said Christy Gessler, chairman of Texas Realtors. “That it’s not surprising for home sales to remain strong. Our pro-business, pro-job atmosphere supports our state’s robust economy, and Realtors are key contributors to this economic growth that is not just good for home sellers but also for the entire community.”
