Jamie Dimon has distanced himself and his company from the demolition of the White House East Wing and the construction of a new massive ballroom.

In a CNN interview, the CEO of JPMorgan Chase (NYSE: JPM) responded to an observation by anchor Erin Burnett that the company was not among the corporate donors on the controversial project.

“We have an issue, okay, which is anything we do, since we do a lot of contracts with governments here and around the world, we have to be very careful about how anything is perceived,” Dimon said. “And also, how the next DOJ is going to deal with it. So, we’re quite conscious of risks we bear by doing anything that looks like buying favors or anything like that. So, do we do things like that? And by the way, we also have policies where we don’t do certain things because it makes it easier for us.”

Dimon, whose name has been floated by political pundits as a possible Democratic presidential candidate, added that JPMorgan Chase has contributed funds toward past presidential inaugurations, noting that was “a normal thing that companies did.”
