Now, here’s something you don’t see every day: a village in Maine is listed for sale.
WGME reports the village of Tuthill, a 40-acre property within the town of Pittston, is now on the market for $6 million. Nathan Tuttle, the village’s owner, said his father began Tuthill in 1967 with an antique shop, and over time it expanded into 21 buildings including a Greek Revival-style home and a restored 1825 church.
Some of the Tuthill buildings have tenants, so any buyer would need to honor existing leases.
“It’s hard to take this property and compare it to something else,” said Anna Boucher of Summit Real Estate, the realtor for the sale. “I think when you take into account all the buildings that are part of this package and the land that it sits on and where it sits in central Maine, I think that all plays into the price of it.”
