A former apartment executive who fled abroad after being indicted nearly six years ago for a $28 million fraud scheme involving apartment complexes in Missouri and Oklahoma was extradited from Israel to stand trial in St. Louis. Thursday.
Michael Fein was indicted Aug. 20, 2020, on one count of bank fraud and one count of wire fraud. He was accused of routinely providing false information between 2016 and 2019 on loan applications to obtain financing and refinance loans on projects for the company he co-owned, TEH Management and its affiliates.
US authorities located Fein in Israel and submitted a request for his extradition, which was approved by the Israeli government. He was returned to the US on Thursday and is expected to make his first appearance in US District Court in St. Louis Friday.
“I’m very pleased that Michael Fein will be returned to St. Louis to face trial on the accusations that he fraudulently obtained millions of dollars,” said US Attorney Thomas C. Albus.
