Newrez expanded HomeHub to protected wholesale borrowers, integrating the originating loan officer throughout the platform and routing purchase, refinance and home-equity interest back toward that broker during the protection period.
Newrez is expanding its HomeHub homeowner-engagement platform to protected wholesale borrowers, giving mortgage brokers another way to stay connected with clients after closing while borrowers track their home value, equity and future financing options.
Under the expansion, announced Sept. 28, the original loan officer’s contact information remains integrated throughout HomeHub during the borrower-protection period. When a protected borrower expresses interest in a purchase, refinance or home-equity opportunity, Newrez says the platform routes the inquiry back toward that originating loan officer.
The company described the change in its announcement expanding HomeHub to protected wholesale borrowers. The platform also provides estimated home-value and equity information and local home listings.
Why the broker connection matters
The design addresses a persistent issue in wholesale mortgage lending: what happens to the broker-client relationship after a loan is sold and enters servicing. Servicers often have an ongoing digital relationship with the borrower, while the originating broker has to build a separate retention strategy to remain visible for the next transaction.
Newrez says HomeHub’s protected-borrower configuration is intended to preserve that connection during the applicable protection period rather than allowing the platform’s financing features to bypass the originating loan officer.
“In today’s competitive market, brokers who stay connected to their clients are the ones who win not only the first transaction, but the next one too,” Tony Kottenbrock, senior vice president of wholesale lending at Newrez, said in the announcement.
A large pool of homeowner equity
Newrez tied the expansion to the amount of equity accumulated by U.S. homeowners. Citing the August 2026 ICE Mortgage Monitor, the company said 47.5 million mortgage holders have approximately $11.7 trillion in tappable equity, averaging about $212,000 per borrower.
That does not mean every homeowner will borrow against that equity. It does, however, make post-closing borrower engagement increasingly important to lenders and brokers competing for home-equity, refinance and repeat-purchase business.
Newrez launched HomeHub in late 2025. The platform combines home-value estimates, home-equity information, local listings and financing opportunities in a single homeowner-facing environment.
For wholesale originators, the important operational detail is not simply that their borrowers can use HomeHub. It is the company’s commitment that protected borrowers’ financing inquiries reconnect them with the loan officer who originated the relationship during the protection period.
