Summary
Preliminary third-quarter results released.
Better Home & Finance Holding Company said Tuesday that its preliminary third-quarter loan volume reached $1.39 billion, up 15% from $1.21 billion a year earlier, even as higher mortgage rates squeezed much of the lending market.
The company also reported $790 million in volume processed through its Tinman AI platform, up 64% year over year. That represented approximately 57% of its total reported loan volume, compared with about 40% in the third quarter of 2025. The figures appeared in a company-issued Business Wire announcement indexed October 13.
These are preliminary operating figures, not audited quarterly earnings. Better has not yet supplied a complete income statement, gain-on-sale margin, expense breakdown or cash-flow reconciliation with the announcement. Higher loan volume alone does not establish profitability or positive operating cash flow.
Better said its growth occurred against a 37% decline in broader industry volume during the same period. The release did not identify the precise source and scope of that industry comparison in the available summary. The contrast should be treated as the company’s characterization until a comparable market series can be checked.
The announcement follows a corporate governance fight in which founder Vishal Garg regained board control. WRE previously reported that shareholder outcome. Tuesday’s preliminary production numbers represent a separate development; they do not resolve questions about governance, future financing or shareholder returns.
The Tinman figures will matter most when Better discloses how the platform affects cost per funded loan, quality-control results, borrower experience and the lender’s margins. Processing a larger share of volume through automation does not, on its own, prove that individual loans cost less to originate or carry fewer defects.
Investors and lenders will be watching for Better’s full third-quarter filing and management’s explanation of the reported increase. Until then, the company has supplied an encouraging volume indicator but an incomplete financial picture.
