A 40-unit affordable and workforce housing development in Hayward, Wisconsin, is fully leased a year after breaking ground, with 208 households on its waiting list. FHLBank Chicago announced October 14 that Trailview Cottages, developed by Impact Seven, received a $2 million Affordable Housing Program grant through member institution IFF. Cinnaire provided Low-Income Housing Tax Credit equity financing. The community offers one-, two- and three-bedroom cottage-style apartments, each with a garage and driveway.

The project sits next to regional hospital system Tamarack Health, an arrangement sponsors say can help attract workers facing a shortage of nearby housing. Northwood Technical College leases space for adult education and workforce training at the community center. The bank cited an economic-impact estimate of $26.5 million in regional output and 116 jobs supported. Those are modeled effects, not a verified count of permanent positions at the property.

The 208-household waiting list highlights how much demand remains despite the project’s completion. No additional homes or expansion schedule were announced.
