Police have made an arrest in a 2011 cold case of an Iowa realtor killed while conducting an open house.

Ashley Okland was 27 years old when she was fatally shot inside a model townhouse in West Des Moines on April 8, 2011.

According to combined media reports, Kristin Elizabeth Ramsey, 53, was charged with first-degree murder in connection with Oakland’s death.

The West Des Moines Police Department did not state what brought them to Ramsey. According to her LinkedIn profile, Ramsey was a sales manager at Rottlund Homes, a homebuilding company that had developed the property Okland was showing, at the time of the realtor’s murder.

Ramsey is being held on a $2 million bond and is scheduled to be arraigned in April. Her attorneys have asked for bond to be reduced to $100,000 and to have her released with a GPS monitor and a curfew.

Ramsey’s attorneys are also requesting that a judge to reject a search warrant to seize her cellphones and any other electronic devices, arguing the devices could not be used to establish probable cause because they did not exist at the time of Okland’s death.

    • I know I’m wondering why this happened as well. I’m thinking they knew each other prior to murder.

  3. There’s probably history there (perhaps involving money, etc.) and the defense is afraid the potential perpetrator’s electronic devices will lead to that history, probably through online storage that may link to previous devices.

  4. It took 15 years to connect this link? Why? I’m betting it was money related.

  5. It takes a lot of nerve and evilness to take an innocent persons life. If she shot her in cold blood because of jealousy then she needs the death penalty. Evil to her core. If she’s in a blue state there will be no dp. She will probably get five years then ten years of probation.
