A Virginia woman was arrested in the fatal hit-and-run death of Sara Burack, the luxury real estate agent who became famous from her appearance on the Netflix series “Million Dollar Beach House.”

The New York Post reports Amanda Kempton pleaded not guilty and was released from police custody after her family posted collateral in lieu of $100,000 bail. Kempton, a marine biologist, claimed that she thought she hit a traffic cone when she struck Burack in the foggy early hours of June 19 in Hamptons Bay on Long Island, New York. Burack was pulling a pink wheeled suitcase behind her while walking along the road where she was struck – Kempton found the suitcase lodged under her vehicle after arriving at a friend’s home.

Kempton was allegedly at a tavern before the incident. If convicted, she faces seven years in prison on a felony charge of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident in which there is a fatality.

“Million Dollar Beach House” was a 2020 series that pitted real estate agents in a competition around luxury listings in the Hamptons. Burack was an agent with Nest Seekers International, representing upscale properties in Manhattan and the Hamptons. She left the agency over a year ago and was a high-profile volunteer in animal charities and the New York City chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
