Wildfires in California and Utah have forced the evacuations of communities in the impacted states.
A wildfire that began Sunday in California’s Riverside County destroyed three homes, damaged several others and resulted in evacuation orders for roughly 100 residents. KTLA reported approximately 1,500 homes in the area were potentially threatened; no injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Separately, a wildfire in Salt Lake City resulted in the evacuation of residents living uphill from Utah’s state capitol. The Associated Press reported the fire department ordered a mandatory evacuate for an area of 40 homes near the blaze.
There were no immediate reports of property damage or injuries from the fire, which grew to roughly 200 acres. The Utah Fire Info website listed the blaze as human-caused, although how it began is not yet known.
