A Colorado community college is offering an online course designed to introduce and expand student understanding of 3D-printed homes and infrastructure.

Aims Community College in Greeley, Colorado, is partnering with Alquist 3D, a 3D printing construction technology company, on the 30-hour certificate course, which carries a $250 tuition.

The course begins in July and consists of four units: the history and process overview of 3D concrete printing, a consideration of robotics, an overview of materials science and a study of the impact that effect equipment and material have on design, and explore the characteristics, limitations, and critical parameters of a toolpath creation and feasibility assessments.

The certificate is the first offering in the discipline by the college, which is planning a more extensive curriculum in the future.
