A Washington, DC-based resident who lists her home on Airbnb is attempting to start a grassroots effort to prevent supporters of President-elect Donald Trump from being able to access Airbnb properties during January’s inauguration events.
The Washington Post reported Stacy Kane, a 40-year-old charter school executive director, has reached out to other Airbnb hosts in the Greater Washington area to either take their rentals off the market for the Jan. 20 inauguration or jack up the rental prices and donate the money to nonprofits that support progressive causes. In an email, Kane said that she wanted to “show Trump supporters who are coming into the DMV that we do not welcome hate, misogyny, or intentions to take over DC.”
But while Kamala Harris carried the vote for the District of Columbia by a wide margin, Trump’s return to a Washington residency is not being scorned by local Airbnb hosts. To date, only four people have signed up to join Kane’s boycott campaign while the Washington Post found more than 950 available rentals on Airbnb for the weekend leading up to the inauguration.

This is such a nasty thing to do. I’m going to share this and ask everybody to boycott Stacey Kane’s AirBNB. In fact, I may even just boycott AirBNB since seemingly, it appears they allow people to discriminate based on political beliefs. Really not surprised though since it’s a Kamala Harris supporter. She must not realize 65% of the country supports President Trump. I guess she never wants anyone who voted for President Trump to stay at her Airbnb. I’m sure Trump supporters can accommodate her permanently and not stay at her place.
I agree with you Deb and am trying to locate her listing so I can be sure that I never book it for any event – ever! I’ll do this with any other listings that come out like this and show their intolerance even though liberals like to talk about how tolerant they are.
I think AIRBNB has spoken out against it but Stacey Kane needs to be removed from their platform. Such intolerance.

I was appalled to hear about this on Fox News. I have already contacted Airbnb whom I am awaiting to hear back from them about this situation. I would think the culpret will be removed from the platform. Lets see how this plays out. I would welcome my fellow hosts to do the same, contact Airbnb.
