The Denver Housing Authority (DHA), the city’s public housing agency, fired CEO Joaquín Cintrón Vega.
The Denverite reports Cintrón Vega’s employment was terminated during a May 28 meeting after he was placed on administrative leave two weeks earlier. Board of Commissioners Chairman Charles Gilford III stated DHA and Cintrón Vega were working “toward a mutually acceptable resolution,” although the exact nature of the problem was not disclosed.
“Unfortunately, we were unable to reach an agreement, and the Board terminated Mr. Cintrón Vega’s employment on May 28,” Gilford said.
Cintrón Vega joined DHA in April 2024 after serving as president and CEO of Lucas Metropolitan Housing in Toledo, Ohio. Earlier in his career, he was director of public housing for Miami-Dade County in Florida. He did not provide a public comment on his dismissal.
Joshua Crawley, DHA’s chief legal officer, was named interim CEO and a nationwide search has been launched for a new chief executive.
