As the Walt Disney Co. (NYSE:DIS) prepares to shutter its Star Wars: Galactic Cruiser hotel in Orlando, it is also offering a preview of what to expect from the Pixar Place Hotel at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. The 15-story establishment is a reimagining of Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, and it marks the first time that a Disney hotel is specifically designed around the Pixar brand.

“The lobby will continue to evolve over the next few months and will begin to blend beloved Pixar imagery with the hotel’s contemporary setting,” said Valerie Lee, public relations manager at Disneyland Resort, in a blog posting. “When the transformation is complete, iconic images from Pixar films will be at the front desk, with characters pictured larger than life in curated artwork.”

Among the new features at the hotel will be a water play area inspired by “Finding Nemo” that includes a 186-foot-long waterslide. A new restaurant called Great Maple is also opening with the promise of what Lee called “playful takes on upscale comfort food” – including Buttermilk Fried Chicken & Maple Bacon Doughnuts, Cajun Shrimp & Cheddar Biscuit Benedict and Soda Pop-Braised Baby Back Ribs. Also being added is a family play court with activities inspired by Pixar’s celebrated short films.

Disney did not state when the hotel’s transformation is expected to be completed. Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel will remain open during the renovation process.
