The Minneapolis-headquartered coffee company Dunn Brothers is planning a franchise expansion that will grow its presence with 250 new stores over the next five years.

According to combined media sources, Dunn Brothers currently operates 50 stores in seven states, with 28 located in Minnesota. The first wave of franchise expansion will include five new stores in Minnesota and South Dakota planned for later this year.

Dunn Brothers launched its first franchise coffee shop in 1994, and company president Scott Harvey claimed the new expansion will be the company’s “most ambitious franchising initiative to date, building on a long history of pioneering in the franchise sector and setting the stage for even greater growth and success.”

The franchise network initiative follows Dunn Brothers’s expansion into the grocery sector with the recent introduction of packaged coffee beans and K-Cups. Dunn Brothers promotes the freshness of its coffee and menu offerings as the key to its success.

“We have a legacy of quality and keeping that as our north star allows us to bridge generations,” said Harvey. “For many communities, access to quality coffee has been limited, or even nonexistent, but we see an opportunity to change that.”
