Elon Musk’s SpaceX is being sued for $15 million by the maker of the Cards Against Humanity party game for allegedly trespassing on and damaging the games company’s adjacent Texas property.

The Wall Street Journal reported CAH acquired a tract of land along the Mexican border to prevent then-President Donald Trump from building a wall along the southern border – the purchase was made from fundraising among anti-Trump supporters, with about 150,000 people donated about $15 each. The company left the land undeveloped, but in its lawsuit the company said SpaceX came on the property to store gravel and construction material.

“SpaceX has treated the Property as its own for at least six months without regard for CAH’s property rights nor the safety of anyone entering what has become a worksite,” the lawsuit stated, adding that SpaceX “never asked for permission to conduct these activities and has never reached out to CAH to explain or apologize for the damage caused” to the property’s vegetation.

The lawsuit added that Musk offered to buy the property after being confronted with his company’s action, but the bid was rejected because it was allegedly “a lowball offer for less than half our land’s value.”

CAH said that it would divide the lawsuit’s proceeds with the 150,000 original donors who helped the company buy the land, with each person getting up to $100.

“While this isn’t enough to compensate our subscribers for the anguish they’ve suffered witnessing Elon Musk defile their once-verdant land—where wild horses galloped freely in the Texas moonlight—we think it’s a pretty good start,” CAH said.

Neither Musk nor SpaceX commented publicly on the lawsuit.

  1. Take the land through eminent domain and build the wall. Give Elon what he needs to take humanity into space.

  2. ….CAH acquired a tract of land along the Mexican border to prevent then-President Donald Trump from building a wall along the southern border – the purchase was made from fundraising among anti-Trump supporters…. Doesn’t sound like they bot it to protect the land\habitat/wildlife. Anywhere along our southern border needs to be secured, build the wall.

  4. The name of the company, CAH, says it all. I am sure Elon would put all their scrub plants and weeds back for them. They do paint a pretty picture of wild horses running in the moonlight though. Is that from their cards….I bet not!
