Four female real estate agents have expanded their sexual assault litigation against eXp Realty to include company founder and CEO Glenn Sanford.
The Real Deal reported the women – identified as Fabiola Acevedo, Tami Sims, Christiana Lundy and Jane Doe 3 – filed a second amended complaint to their lawsuit that accused two eXp agents, David Golden and Michael Bjorkman, of allegedly drugging and assaulting them during the recruitment process. The amended lawsuit accuses Sanford of failing to intervene and stop the alleged abuse.
In addition to Sanford, Bjorkman, Golden and eXp Realty, the complaint also names eXp World holdings and eXp agent Brent Gove as defendants. Sanford and Gove are accused of profiting from the agents’ actions and enabled their behavior “to go unchecked for years simply so they could continue to reap financial benefits.”
The company is facing three lawsuits over similar accusations, which gained public attention last December through an article in the New York Times. The incidents reportedly took place between 2000 and 2020. Bjorkman was charged in Las Vegas in February 2021 on two counts of sexual assault, but the local district attorney’s office dropped the case three months later. Golden has never been criminally charged.
An eXp spokersperson issued a statement that said, “The claims in this case stem from alleged assaults by independent real estate agents who were never eXp employees — which we handled with speed, seriousness and deep respect as soon as the accusers brought it to our attention. The claims against eXp and its leadership have no basis in fact or law.”
IMO – While the accusers may have had a legitimate lawsuit against the perpetrators to expand it to include the executives of EXP ,and the company is simply trying to extract more money and notoriety for themselves.
Does anyone else see a pattern here?
