The union representing employees at the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) is claiming the agency’s workforce could be one of the next targets of the Trump administration’s mass layoffs within the Executive Branch.
In an interview with CNBC, Antonio Gaines, president of the American Federation of Government Employees National Council 222, said it was uncertain how many FHA workers would be laid off or when such terminations would occur.
“It will not be near the 40% to 50% range that other program areas are experiencing, but there will be some cuts,” Gaines said.
Last month, Gaines claimed HUD Secretary Scott Turner was planning to cut half of its 9,600-member workforce. However, HUD officials stated the figure was “not accurate.”
