Two months after filing for bankruptcy, Hooters of America is closing more than 30 of its company-owned restaurants across a dozen states.
Verdict Food Service reports the company is seeking to address its $376 million with the sale of its corporate-owned restaurants to a buyer group that included Hooters Inc. and Hoot Owl Restaurants LLC. The buyer group plans to take ownership of roughly 130 Hooters restaurants, nearly two-thirds of the domestic venues.
The buyer group is also planning to bring back the original Hooters Girls uniforms and some of the chain’s popular recipes. The company’s franchises, including its 60 overseas locations, are not being impacted.
