The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) task force within the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is seeking public assistance to audit the agency.

In the new @DOGE_HUD account on X, the task force wrote: “DOGE is looking for help from the general public! Please DM insight for reducing waste, fraud, and abuse, along with any helpful insights or awesome ideas. Send us a message to @DOGE_HUD.”

The X account launched yesterday and generated 34,000 followers within 24 hours. The account is only following two X accounts – those belonging to DOGE and its leader, Elon Musk.

DOGE has also created similar X accounts to other federal agencies including the Securities and Exchange Commission (DOGE_SEC), the Internal Revenue Service (DOGE_IRS), the Social Security Administration (DOGE_SSA) and the Department of Agriculture (DOGE_USDA).

On Feb. 14, the DOGE X account announced, “$1.9 billion of HUD money was just recovered after being misplaced during the Biden administration due to a broken process. These funds were earmarked for the administration of financial services, but were no longer needed. @SecretaryTurner and @DOGE worked together to fix the issue and de-obligated the funds which are now available for other use by the Treasury.”
