Former Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell is back in the news – not because of what he said, but because of what he sold.
The Baltimore Business Journal reports Powell unloaded his 2-acre property on Maryland’s affluent Gibson Island last month for $7.2 million in an off-market transaction. Powell acquired the property in 2006 for $3.86 million.
The property features a 7,155-square-foot waterfront mansion with six bedrooms and eight bathrooms. The grounds overlook the Magothy River and include a waterfront swimming pool, a private pier with a boat lift, and stone terraces. The property’s listing stated, “Graciously scaled rooms provide an ideal balance of formal and informal living, creating spaces equally suited to large-scale entertaining and comfortable daily living.”
Powell and his wife, filmmaker Elissa Leonard, own additional Maryland homes on adjacent Gibson Island and in the Washington, DC suburb of Chevy Chase.
