Florida’s newest sports superstar resident is looking for a place to call home.
According to a report in the Palm Beach Post, Argentine soccer great Lionel Messi has been checking out real estate in southern Palm Beach County. Boca Raton-based luxury real estate agent Senada Adzem is working with Messi to secure a property in either Boca Raton or western Delray Beach.
Messi arrived in Florida to play for Major League Soccer’s Inter Miami CF, but he is not focused on a Miami property – although he owns several luxury condominiums in the city, he is interested in a residence that will offer privacy for his family, which includes his wife and three children. Instead, he has been looking into several on-market and off-market properties located within gated communities that include private security.
“My understanding is that he’s seriously now considering Palm Beach County because of the fact that he can get more privacy, more land, and security is very important,” said Adzem, executive director of luxury sales at Douglas Elliman. “He is one of the most famous people, if not the most famous person, in the world, and I think it’s just a little quieter here.”
However, Messi is not the only sports legend in Palm Beach County – the market is home to several celebrity athletes including Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Serena Williams and Michael Jordan.
