Mainstreet Equity Corp. (TSX: MEQ), a Calgary-headquartered real estate operating company, announced that it was the target of a cybersecurity incident on May 21 which affected Mainstreet’s internal systems.
Specific details on the exact nature of the incident were not disclosed. The company stated it was working with cybersecurity experts to investigate the incident, adding that it was in the process of determining the extent to which any data has been compromised in the incident. The company also said it did not believe that its operating platform was affected.
“The security of Mainstreet’s tenants, employees and other stakeholders remains the top priority for us,” says Bob Dhillon, president and CEO of Mainstreet. “The investigation into the cause and scope of this incident is ongoing, and we will provide updates in respect of this situation as they become available.”
