The Miami-based cryptocurrency lending platform Moon Mortgage has launched two products designed to blend the realms of digital assets and property purchasing.
The company’s new Trade & Borrow product is being billed as “the world’s first crypto loan margin account.” According to Moon Mortgage, the product enables investors to “borrow against the value of their crypto while still maintaining some control of it.” Investors that use Trade & Borrow will still be able trade their digital assets after they have taken out a cash loan.
Investors can take out a loan using Trade & Borrow on one-, three-, and six-month terms, with the option to renew their loans. The product does not have a prepayment penalty and does not require origination fees. Moon Mortgage added it is with a fully chartered U.S. digital asset bank to enable Trade & Borrow, adding it would “never lend out the assets it takes as collateral.”
Moon Mortgage also released its core mortgage product to market, which allows crypto investors to use their assets to secure funding for purchases of real estate. Outside of using digital assets as collateral, the lending platform’s crypto mortgage product is identical to traditional mortgages – however, investors will need a minimum of a $1 million loan amount in order to apply. The crypto mortgage product is currently available in Florida, Texas and Colorado, with a wider rollout planned for the near future.

For too long, investors have had to ‘put up and shut up’ with how they can use crypto to create material gains — having to convert crypto into fiat in order to leverage that for major living expenses, such as buying a vehicle.
