The National Association of Realtors announced the approval of a series of updates to the Multiple Listing Services (MLS) Handbook.

The updates focus on reinforcing matters of local discretion, such as non-member access to MLS; modernizing administrative, operations, and enforcement rules; and removing outdated MLS enforcement practices. An MLS Policy Risk Assessment Presidential Advisory Group consisting of MLS executives, brokers, association executives, and industry partners formulated 18 recommendations for changes that resulted in the updates.

The full list of recommendations is now online. NAR added the recommendations constitute the most extensive update to the MLS Handbook in 20 years.

The 2026 MLS Handbook is scheduled to be published in January.
