The New England-focused retailer Smithland Pet & Garden Centers announced it will be closing its 13-store chain.
The company, which operated over the past four decades under different names including myAgway, Dave’s Soda and Pet City, offered a selection of garden and lawn products and pet supplies at locations across Connecticut and Western Massachusetts. Liquidation sales are now being conducted in partnership with Hilco Consumer-Retail, and store fixtures and equipment will be also available for sale.
“Our love for pets and plants has always been at the heart of Smithland—but it’s our customers who have made it truly special,” said the company in a statement. “We’ll miss every tail wag, garden tip, and friendly face. Join us in-store as we say farewell and celebrate a wonderful 40-year journey together.”
