The new owner of Michael Jordan’s former Chicago-area mansion is now renting the property for $230,000 per month.
Realtor.com reports the property’s owner – John Cooper, a partner at the real estate company HAN Capital – initially planned to create a luxury timeshare at the estate but opted to go the rental route.
“A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to rent this gated, world-class estate, meticulously designed for those who live and breathe sports,” said the rental listing. “This custom-built masterpiece blends luxury, recreation, and privacy in an unparalleled setting, offering nine bedrooms, 19 bathrooms, and parking for 14 cars. Whether you’re hosting an exclusive event, entertaining distinguished guests, or planning a high-level business retreat, this estate provides the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable month of luxury living.”
Jordan custom-built the residence in 1995 and listed it for $29 million in 2012. The price was cut to $21 million and then to $16 million in 2013, and in the same year he unsuccessfully tried to auction it with a $13 million reserve price. It was listed at $14.855 million starting in 2015 and stayed at the price until Cooper acquired the property for $9.5 million.
There’s no $10m house, Jordan owned or otherwise, that commands $250k/month. That’s crazy.
Something tells me the price to rent this home will be reduced tremendously.
