New York Attorney General Letitia James has filed judgments in what appears to be her first effort to seize properties belonging to former President Donald Trump.

According to combined media reports, James’ office entered judgments on March 6 with the clerk’s office in Westchester County, a New York City suburban region where Trump has a golf course and a private estate called Seven Springs. While the filings do not mean that property seizures will occur immediately, they are a procedural step that would pave the way for an eventual seizure.

James has vowed to seize Trump’s real estate assets if he is unable to meet the March deadline to post a bond covering a $454 million civil judgment against him in a valuation fraud trial. Trump stated that he has been unable to raise the funds, adding on social media that he might need to see his properties at “fire sale prices” to post the bond.
