Canadian police have confirmed the suspect in the murder of a Toronto-area realtor has left the country and is now in Hong Kong.

Mui was reported missing on Aug. 9 after leaving a real estate transaction in Stouffville, Ontario. Police said that Mui was targeted, though it is not clear how or if she was directly acquainted with Hu.

Constable Lisa Moskaluk of the York Regional Police said that while the investigation into Mui’s murder is complicated by Hu being out of the country, it nonetheless “doesn’t really change anything.”
“Our investigation still continues here,” she said. “We also continue and will not stop to investigate any leads that come to our investigators, so that could be by way of more individuals of interest, and there may be other suspects or people involved in her disappearance.”
