The law firm Latham & Watkins LLP has hired Douglas Heitner as a partner in its real estate practice.

Heitner will be based in the firm’s New York City office and will advise clients on real estate transactions including joint ventures, financings, investment sales and acquisitions, secondary market debt acquisitions and dispositions, developments, leasing, loan workouts, and public and private projects across numerous sectors and asset classes.

Prior to joining the firm, he was chief legal officer at the real estate investment trust Safehold, formerly known as iStar. Earlier in his career, he was a real estate transactions partner at Kasowitz Benson Torres LLP.

“Doug is well known in the New York real estate market for his entrepreneurial approach, commercial mindset, and strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
