Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), the Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Committee, has put forth a “fact sheet” detailing how the Republican-backed Continuing Resolution (CR) will jack up American housing costs.
The 82-year-old, purple-haired DeLauro is claiming the CR will “puts tens of thousands of households on rental assistance at risk of eviction.” She also insisted the CR will result in weaker support for homeless shelters and services and less money for affordable housing production, adding it would fail to “reign in the chaos and uncertainty created by funding freezes, cancelled contracts, and Department of Housing and Urban Development field office closures.”
“The Republican continuing resolution that the House is expected to vote on today will hurt hardworking Americans,” said DeLauro. “This blank check to unelected billionaire Elon Musk fails to lower the cost of housing and instead cuts rent subsidies for low-income and working Americans by more than $700 million, leaving landlords to foot the bill for or evict more than 32,000 households including veterans, survivors of domestic violence, seniors, and families with disabilities. Instead of lowering the cost of living, Republicans are kicking people out of their homes.”
However, House Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole (R-OK) has a very different view of the CR contents.
“There are no substantive changes in policy between this bill and the CR we passed in December,” said Cole. “Both are clean CRs that accomplish the overriding goal of keeping the government open, nothing more. For those who supported the December CR, you should have no concerns with today’s measure. Both December’s bill and today’s bill maintain the status quo, and both ensure the government stays open. Voting for today’s bill is no different from voting for the CR in December. I believe that those who voted for the CR in December and will now vote against today’s bill are succumbing to the temptation of a political temper tantrum.”

This mental patient with purple hair is simply a certified kook! Nothing she says is reasonable or truthful. At best she is harmless and should be feeding pigeons in the park, but probably should be in a mental institution along with most of the democrat party.
The rhetoric from the leftwing is false, divisive and increasingly hyperbolic. The best way to end the chaos and damage caused by Democrat lies and propaganda is for voters to independently verify facts.
The CR is a great example. Contrary to all the whining, threats and horror stories from the leftwing, the Continuing Resolution (CR) is simply an extension of the existing budget…the one passed by Biden and Democrats. Accordingly, Democrats spewing hatred toward the CR, are lying and angry with themselves.
Republican facts, especially the ones said by the current President, have also been false. EVERYONE needs to be fact checked. Politics is about The People, not the left or the right.
My gosh she’s a whack job – we need term limits!
Your headline is a bit misleading for those who scan and do not read. There are no specifics mentioned in the report and certainly none that support the Representative’s comments. We had to read to the last paragraph to determine that the comments by DeLauro are just her opinions and are not supported by anything tangible.
Ms. Delauro is a perfect example of why there should be term limits in Congress.
More fearmongering from the left. None of these things have happened yet, but she will have folks dependent on assistance flipping out. I swear all they do is try to rile people up so they protest over non-existent issues. I can’t even watch the news anymore. I am SO disgusted with the behavior of folks who don’t get their way.
The fact sheet is pure speculation – not based in facts!
I idea of spending cuts turning into a check for Elon is insane !
To those expressing the sentiment that we need term limits; two things.
1. We already have term limits. It’s called an election. This is not flippant. If the voters dislike the same people holding office for many many terms, then vote that way. At the very least, during primary elections.
2. We have term limits here in The People’s Democratic Socialist Republic of California on statewide offices, and things are worse than ever. Not a solution. Holding your elected representatives accountable at the ballot box is. (And yes, there are vote fraud issues, but term limits don’t fix that.)
The reason the left and those opposing on the right are scared is because all these funds that are supposed to be allocated to the true people that are homeless like our veterans… are indeed going to “them” thru money laundering and fake not for profits and NGOs.,.
Their checks are being cut!
