Two months after he jacked up the listing price of his Beverly Hills mansion from $70 million to $80 million, British music icon Rod Stewart cut the asking price to $72 million.

Mansion Global reported the 33,000-square-foot property was first listed last June. When the “Maggie May” singer added $10 million to its price in December, listing agent Tomer Fridman of the Fridman Group International insisted the “privacy and recent record-breaking sales in Beverly Park validate the price increase.” No formal explanation was offered for the $6 million discounting.

Stewart acquired the nearly three-acre property in 1991 for $12 million and had his residence designed by prominent architect Richard Landry to resemble a European chateau, complete with marble floors, crystal chandeliers and a formal dining room that can seat up to 20 people. Also included are a three-story guesthouse with its own gym – the main residence also has a gym – a fully-lit soccer field.
