The US Senate voted 56-43 to confirm Bill Pulte as the new director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA).

The vote was mostly along party lines, with all Republicans and three Democrats – Sens. Angela Alsobrooks of Maryland, Ruben Gallego of Arizona and Elissa Slotkin of Michigan – crossing the aisle in support; Sen. Tammy Duckworth of Illinois was not present for the vote.

Pulte is the CEO of Pulte Capital Partners and has gained prominence for his philanthropic endeavors on social media. His grandfather William Pulte founded the real estate development firm PulteGroup. Last November, his name was floated as a potential Secretary of Housing and Urban Development – Scott Turner was named instead.

Pulte succeeds Biden-appointee Sandra Thompson, who resigned ahead of President Trump’s inauguration.

“Thank you to everyone who has ever believed in me,” said Pulte on X after the Senate confirmed his nomination. “Bipartisan vote too!”
