Tyler Bossetti, an influencer based in Columbus, Ohio, who used his social media prominence to highlight his property flipping business, was sentenced to 72 months in prison for coordinating a $20 million real estate Ponzi scheme and committing tax fraud to further that scheme.

The 31-year-old Bossetti promised investors they could enjoy returns of 30% or higher. Bossetti received more than $20 million in investments between September 2019 and June 2023 but used most of the money on personal luxury expenses and unsuccessful cryptocurrency investments.

Bossetti also caused the issuance and filing of approximately 14 false and fraudulent 1099-INT tax forms. He filed the IRS forms to report interest income for investors who did not earn interest and falsely claimed he had reinvested victims’ interest earnings.

In total, dozens of investors lost more than $11 million due to Bossetti’s chicanery. He was charged by a bill of information in April 2025 and pleaded guilty in June 2025 to wire fraud and aiding in a false tax filing.
