President-elect Donald Trump announced that JPMorgan Chase (NYSE: JPM) CEO Jamie Dimon would not be part of his new administration, but Dimon also announced that he had no plans to trade in his job to have a “boss” directing him.
Trump took to Truth Social to kibosh a Dimon role in his cabinet, writing: “”I respect Jamie Dimon, of JPMorgan Chase, greatly, but he will not be invited to be a part of the Trump Administration,” Trump wrote. “I thank Jamie for his outstanding service to our Country!”
Dimon, a Democrat, had been the center of speculation that he would consider a run for the presidency. And while he did not endorse Trump during this year’s election, some media sources wondered if he would be tapped to become the next Treasury Secretary.
For his part, Dimon offered a thanks-but-no-thanks response to Trump’s message.
“I wish the president well and think it’s a very nice note,” Dimon said in a Bloomberg interview during the APEC CEO Conference in Lima, Peru. “But, I just want to tell the President also I haven’t had a boss in 25 years, I’m not about ready to start.”

The Trumpster has an embarrassment of riches to choose from. Not every thing will work out.
An embarrassment is correct, starting with Trump.
You better hope he fails because if he doesn’t and he brings tremendous change to the government efficiency, healthcare, economy, ends these wars, and more it’s going to be the end for democrats for a long time. They don’t know how to do anything but spend money and push papers and do literally nothing. Literally what did Biden and Kamala do for 4 years besides fail at everything. You are delusional if you think the country is better served with 4 more years of THAT then a group that wants to give this country meaningful advancement and correction.
Talk about delusional?? You think backing out of NATO, alienating our allies and getting rid of the Dept of Education is the answer?? BTW, most of Trump’s cabinet picks will not be around (even if certified) for more than a year at best….If you haven’t noticed, Trump LOVES to fire people.
Why would President elect Trump want JPMorgan Chase (NYSE: JPM) CEO Jamie Dimon, a dyed in the wool democrat, on his cabinet in the first place?
He needs to have someone that will not be a boot-licker.
Sounds like the tones of a disappointment from Dimon…not having a boss for 25 years more like no one would hire a selfish person in their lot.
You wish that you had a job like his with no boss. Get real.
Trump needs team players to reach his goal not individuals with egos and self interests of their own.
Plenty of talent better suited than Jamie Dimon-overrated!
Jamie Dimon would have made the perfect Treasury Secretary given his background. Heck, any executive from one of the big banks would make an excellent choice, Democrat or Republican. We need stability in our financial markets and the economy.
Jamie was my boss at First Chicago, corporate Trust, awhile back a great man and great leader.
I’m a life long Republican, but I’m certain that the new Trump Administration will be a colossal failure. The economy will tank within a year. A high school kid could do better. Dimon wouldn’t want to be associated with the forthcoming horrendous fiasco.
President Trump needs a complete America First Agenda Team in his Administration. Open Borders, National Security, Overregulation, Drill for success of all working Americans and True Government Oversight and Efficiency are help for all Americans.
