The Trump Organization is expanding beyond its real estate focus with the launch of a mobile-phone service called Trump Mobile and plans to sell a US-built smartphone later this summer.

The Wall Street Journal reports the mobile service would work with all three major wireless carriers and would operate via resale deals – also known as mobile virtual network operator agreements – where carriers sell excess capacity on their networks and gain customers without the expense of seeking them out.

According to the TrumpMobile.com website, the mobile phone plan will start at $47.45 a month, a reference to Trump serving as the 45th and 47th president. The smartphone will be gold in color and available beginning in August with a suggested retail price of $499.

The mobile venture would be overseen by the president’s sons, Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. DTTM Operations, while manages Donald Trump’s trademarks, made filings last week indicating the trademarks “TRUMP” and “T1” will be used for the mobile phone and wireless service, respectively.
