The newly sworn-in Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is making himself as home in Washington, DC, at a historic mansion that he acquired for $12.5 million.

According to a Wall Street Journal report sourced from unnamed “people familiar with the deal,” the property in Georgetown was Connie Milstein, the co-founder of Ogden CAP Properties LLC and the Biden administration’s ambassador to Malta, who paid $11.11 million for the residence in 2010. Millstein has been trying to sell the property since 2020, when it was first listed for $15.5 million – it was later discounted to $13.5 million.

The four-story, 8,000-square-foot residence was built around 1941 and features five bedrooms, a banquet-sized dining room, drawing room and library. The 0.29-acre grounds include a manicured garden and a 20-by-40-foot saltwater pool.
