Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) has become the latest target of mortgage fraud accusations leveled by Bill Pulte, the director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA).
NBC News, sourcing its coverage from an unnamed “person familiar with the referral,” reports that Pulte sent a criminal referral to the Department of Justice (DOJ) alleging Swalwell committed mortgage and tax fraud in connection with his home in Washington, DC. The referral reportedly claims that Swalwell may have incorrectly claimed it was his primary residence. The full details of the referral were not made public by the DOJ, and Pulte did not issue any statement about his referral.
Swalwell, who took leading roles in both impeachment efforts against Trump during his first term, still has an active lawsuit against Trump relating to the riots on Capitol Hill on Jan. 6, 2021. He is the fourth Democratic official to be targeted in Pulte’s mortgage fraud accusations – New York Attorney General Letitia James, Sen. Adam Schiff of California, and Federal Reserve Gov. Lisa Cook were also the subjects of referrals to the DOJ by Pulte. To date, only James has been indicted.
Swalwell issued a statement that said, “As the most vocal critic of Donald Trump over the last decade and as the only person who still has a surviving lawsuit against him, the only thing I am surprised about is that it took him this long to come after me.”
Swalwell added, “Like James Comey and John Bolton, Adam Schiff and Lisa Cook, Letitia James and the dozens more to come — I refuse to live in fear in what was once the freest country in the world. Of course, I will not end my lawsuit against him. And I will not stop speaking out against the President and speaking up for Californians.”

Mortgage fraud is a crime. There’s no mistakingly claiming another primary residence. That’s affidavits that must be sworn to.
Pulte only checks the mortgage records of Democrats. Plenty of Republicans have a second home in Washington.
It isn’t about having a 2nd home, there is no law against having a 2nd home. However; it is fraud to claim it as your primary residence when it is not.
This is the pathetic type of stuff that happens when you stand up to a malignant narcissist. They will do anything to take you down. Their fragile little ego just can’t handle being criticized or opposed. They will lie, cheat, whatever it takes to ‘win’.
Yes that is what the Democrats do day in and day out. Democrat politicians and their supporters are seriously deranged at this point of time. Their reality is warped but for the most part constitutionally protected. The more that are charged and convicted the better our country will be in chasing out the rats.
